Samsung’s newest Lollipop update now displays security patch information

Samsung’s newest Lollipop update now displays security patch information

Security is certainly the buzzword around the mobile industry right now. ‘Stagefright’ still isn’t put to bed, and the amount of security concern among smartphone users has led some manufacturers to agree to keep up with Google’s monthly security patches. Samsung is demonstrating transparency in this endeavor by adding a security patch information panel to the settings of Lollipop devices, letting users see when the last patch was applied.
The new information, sighted by Android Central, can be found in Settings > About Phone. It looks like the security patch module has so far only  been found on Galaxy S6 Edge+ devices in Europe with the build G928FXXS2AOK9, and Galaxy Note 5’s in the Middle East with the build N920CXXU2AOK6. We expect, however, for Samsung to roll this out to all of its devices currently receiving Lollipop firmware updates.
